The Head of Talent is expected to be a highly knowledgeable and capable HR professional who is adept at working with business partners to understand the company objectives, construct strategies, and execute plans to improve employer branding, recruitment performance and talent management.

Hiring talent, and more importantly developing and retaining it, is incredibly important at Squirro as a growing company. The Head of Talent has a key role to play in the success of our growing organization.

Responsibilities

The head of talent’s first order is to understand the business, its goals and priorities. With your understanding of where the business is looking to excel, you can begin building talent strategies that work towards this. Ultimately, the head of talent is responsible for attracting, developing and retaining top talent and diverse candidates across all levels of an organisation.

Tasks

Recruiting

  • Identifying an organisation’s needs and working to create and implement an efficient in-house talent acquisition strategy to improve recruitment and business performance
  • Supporting workforce planning and resource forecasting
  • Developing effective strategies for identifying skills gaps within the workforce
  • Understanding the current recruitment trends and your organisation’s markets to identify the impact upon the business
  • Anticipating the organisation’s future and working with senior executives to advise on recruiting tactics that will help to sustain the company’s success

Talent Development

  • Managing a highly-skilled team to assist with talent development and acquisition
  • Organising and overseeing individual and team training programmes
  • Planning regular employee performance reviews and feeding back to the business
  • Developing and implementing employee retention programmes or strategies

Employer Branding

  • Develop and execute internal and external Employer Branding and Company Culture initiatives based on our core values
  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract diverse candidates to all areas of the business
  • Develop and run employee feedback measures in order to measure employee satisfaction and involvement
  • Monitoring and reporting on staff turnover rates

Talent Operations

  • Ensure together with the different teams and our finance team that onboarding and off-boarding, payroll, compensation / benefit changes, variable are taken care of

Requirements

As head of talent, it goes without saying that you will need to be a highly-skilled HR professional with experience of talent management and resourcing. It is imperative that you have significant experience with in-house talent acquisition given our aggressive growth plans. However, you will also need to be strategic, influential and confident in building relationships with employees at all levels. You will need a commercial mindset and to be analytical in your approach. Strong communication and leadership skills are a must.

  • Talent Acquisition: Experience in managing a team with a strong understanding of in-house talent acquisition, management and development
  • Market Research: Keeping up with industry trends, salary benchmarks, and the competitive landscape to attract and retain top talent.
  • Sourcing Skills: Proficiency in utilizing various channels like job boards, social media, employee referrals, and networking to source potential candidates.
  • Candidate Assessment: The ability to effectively evaluate candidates through interviews, assessments, and reference checks to ensure they meet the job requirements.
  • Approach: Ability to be strategic and tactical when making decisions
  • Data-driven: Analytical and able to interpret data; able to use AI to enhance the effectiveness of you and your team
  • Compliance Knowledge: Staying updated with labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure all hiring practices are legal and ethical.
  • Technology Proficiency: Utilizing applicant tracking systems (ATS), HR software, and other technology/software tools to streamline the recruitment process and enhance efficiency.
  • Influencer: Brilliant at influencing employees at all levels to support your strategies
  • Performance Management: Familiar with performance management and relevant software. Ideally experienced in implementing an OKR oriented planning and execution model.
  • Training: Experience delivering employee training programmes
  • Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Great interpersonal and motivational skills
