We are looking for a Manager to join the Corporate Strategy and M&A team. The team’s scope covers the different aspects of ABB’s corporate strategy, portfolio evolution, strategic and commercial aspects of inorganic transactions as well as other projects with high impact on ABB as a whole. The team will typically cover topics that feature on the agenda of ABB’s executive leadership.

The role reports to the Corporate Strategy Head. The successful candidate will work on projects of ABB-wide strategic importance and have the opportunity to make a strong contribution to shaping the company’s future direction. This role offers the opportunity to develop into a business strategy role or other positions in ABB, typically after 2-4 years.

Your responsibilities

  • Identify and review key growth opportunities and market developments
  • Develop strategic & analytical frameworks, to create a culture of new idea generation
  • Scope, develop and execute work plans for the analyses laid out in such frameworks
  • Collect and analyze information to develop/evaluate potential growth opportunities, financial modeling, and competitive analyses
  • Perform high quality analysis to address complex questions in a pragmatic manner
  • Formulate output derived from projects into concise presentations
  • Prepare high-impact documents enabling effective decision making in senior and executive management meetings
  • Interact with ABB colleagues across businesses, geographies and businesses

Your background

  • 2-4 years relevant work experience, e.g. as typically found at the level of a (senior) consultant from a top-tier consultancy
  • Excellent analytical skills – structuring, problem solving
  • Passion for tackling complex problems, high level of curiosity, eagerness to learn and initiate engagement with others
  • Ability to prioritize and make tradeoffs in a semi-quantitative environment with only moderate support from supervisor
  • Excellent written (text and visuals) and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to thrive in international and increasingly digital/ remote work environment
  • Experience in commercial due diligence and other strategic aspects of portfolio management or M&A is a plus
  • Experience in broader industrial sector. Knowledge of ABB-specific markets and competitors is a plus
